Frequently Asked

Everything you need to know about LeaseCards: how you put cards in your binder, lend or borrow them at events, how handover and return work with the QR code, and what a request is.

Revision: 2026.10As of: October 2026

What is the binder?

Your binder is your collection online: the single cards you want to show, sell, trade or lend to friends, with the number of copies and the card value you set yourself. In your week plan you add when you are where: at events or at public places such as a shop, café or station, once or every week.

How do I buy a card?

Search the card or paste your deck list. If a card is for sale, you see “Buy for €X” with time and place. You pay the price plus a 1.5% + €0.25 transaction fee right away; the seller only gets the money after the handover. You pick the card up in person (no shipping), check it there and show your QR code. If the handover does not happen, you get everything back. You can cancel for free until 24 hours before the pickup.

How do I sell cards?

In your binder tick “Also for sale” on a card; the card value is the price. You need a verified Stripe payout account. Buyers pay at once; after the handover by QR code you get the price minus 4.9% commission. If you call a sale off or do not show up, the buyer is refunded and the refund fee is taken from your next payout. You are responsible for your own taxes; sellers with many sales (30 sales or €2,000 a year) are reported by platforms to the tax office.

How does trading work?

For cards with the trade tick you can ask for a trade. The other collector picks what they want from your binder; the card values of both sides are shown side by side. You can make counter offers and agree on cash on top. Without cash no money goes through LeaseCards. With cash one side pays it upfront through Stripe (plus 1.5% + €0.25), the other gets it after the handover minus 4.9%.

How does borrowing work?

Borrowing is free (friends & family): no deposit, no fee, no money through LeaseCards and no cover by LeaseCards. You request the cards with a pickup and a return appointment, the lender says yes or no. At the handover they scan your QR code; from then on the thread shows who has which cards until when, so nobody forgets whose cards are whose. Return at most 6 days after the handover, in the same condition.

How does a handover work?

You meet at the agreed time at a public place, at the event or in a store. You show your QR code from the app, the other side scans it and confirms. For purchases and trades with cash on top the money is paid out afterwards. You can keep photos of the cards at the handover in the thread.

What does it cost?

Borrowing and trading without cash cost nothing. For purchases and trades with cash on top, whoever pays pays a 1.5% + €0.25 transaction fee; whoever receives the money a 4.9% commission. No monthly or setup fee. Example: a purchase for €60, you pay €61.15, the seller gets €57.06.

What happens if an event is cancelled?

Open requests for that date are ended. Paid purchases that were not handed over are fully refunded.

I go to the same local every week. Do I have to sign up each time?

No. Add a time with “Every week” in your week plan, then you are listed at that place every week. At a weekly local “Every week” works the same way. Stores can claim their shop and keep their locals up to date.

Nobody has my card. What now?

Post a request: collectors near you who have the card in their binder see it and can make you an offer. If someone near you adds the card to their binder later, you are told.

I am away for a while. What happens to my binder?

Pause your binder on the binder page. While it is paused nobody can request or buy your cards. When you are back, switch it on again.

What if something goes wrong?

For purchases: if the handover is not confirmed by the end of the pickup time plus 2 hours, you are refunded automatically. For borrowing and trades without cash you settle problems between you, without cover by LeaseCards; photos at the handover help. In a dispute the support helps with the thread. Rentals with a deposit from before October 2026 finish under the old rules.
