LeaseCards Terms of Service

These Terms govern the use of LeaseCards at leasecards.com (“LeaseCards”). LeaseCards arranges buying, trading and lending of trading cards between users, with a handover in person. The contracts about the cards are concluded directly between the users.

Revision: 2026.10fAs of: 24 October 2026
§ 01//

Scope & contracting party

These terms apply to the use of leasecards.com (“LeaseCards”). The provider is Musa Cof, Austraße 29, 63065 Offenbach, Germany (see Legal Notice).

LeaseCards is an intermediary platform for buying, trading and lending trading cards between users, with a handover in person, at tournaments, events and public places. The contracts about the cards are concluded solely between the users: the free loan between the user who borrows the cards (“Borrower”) and the user who lends them (“Lender”, § 04), the purchase contract between buyer and seller (§ 11a) and the trade contract between the traders (§ 11b). Between you and LeaseCards there is a usage contract for providing the platform and, for purchases and trades with cash on top, the payment handling. Users are players, collectors and stores. Whether a user acts as a business (section 14 BGB) or as a consumer (section 13 BGB) depends on what they actually do; regular selling for profit can be commercial. Users are responsible for their own tax and trade-law duties.

LeaseCards does not organise the events shown on the platform. The respective organiser is responsible for holding the event, its dates and its conditions of participation.

§ 02//

Account & verification

You need an account to put cards in your binder, add appointments, add places, request cards or tap “I'm going” on an event. You must be at least 18, give truthful information and keep your login details secret. One account per person.

Payout account for sales and cash on topA user can only sell (§ 11a) and receive cash on top from a trade (§ 11b) once they have set up their payout account with Stripe Connect, including the identity and bank checks Stripe requires, and Stripe has enabled payouts. This also applies to stores and their staff. Lending and trades without cash are possible without a payout account.
§ 03//

Places, stores, appointments & events

Places: a place is a publicly accessible location with a name and an address (shop, café, station, hall or another public place). Every user can add a place and confirms that it is a public place and not a private address. LeaseCards suggests existing places with the same address or very close by to avoid duplicates. Places can be reported; LeaseCards can edit, merge and remove places. LeaseCards lists places with publicly available business data also without the owner's involvement.

Stores: a shop first appears as a meeting point (name and address, no logo and not called a store or partner). The owner can claim the profile; after a check by the LeaseCards team the shop becomes a Store with its own page, logo and badge, and the owner keeps opening hours, description, tournaments and weekly locals up to date. There is only one active owner per place; the team decides conflicts. The owner can request the removal of an automatically created profile. There are no paid plans or subscriptions.

Appointments and events: an appointment is a place with a time window, once or weekly. Lenders add their own presence (“I'm there from … to …”), several Lenders can use the same place. An event is an appointment with its own event page. Users can suggest events; suggestions appear after approval by the team, Store owners publish their events directly. LeaseCards can reject, correct, mark as cancelled and feature events; there is no claim to publication or featuring. LeaseCards is not the organiser of events.

“I'm going”With “I'm going” you show that you attend an event; your presence then covers the time of the event, and you can change it. If you have cards in your binder and it is not paused, they are shown as available with your username, the place and the time of your appointments in the card search and on event pages. You can check out at any time as long as no rental at this appointment has been accepted.
§ 04//

Binder, request & agreement

Binder: A user adds the single cards they want to show, sell, trade or lend to their binder, with the number of copies and a card value they set themselves. The card value must not exceed the current market value of the card; it is the price for a direct purchase (§ 11a) and the reference value for trades (§ 11b). The binder can be paused at any time.

Lending between users (“friends & family”): Lending cards is free of charge. It is a loan between the users (sections 598 et seq. BGB); LeaseCards does not collect or pay out any money for it, charges no fee and does not cover the loan. LeaseCards arranges the contact and the appointments and records handover and return in the app, so it is clear who has which cards until when.

Request and agreement: The player picks a pickup appointment and a return appointment from the lender's appointments. Pickup and return always take place with the same lender. The return appointment must start at most 144 hours after the pickup appointment starts; pickup and return in the same appointment (“same day”) are possible. The request is non-binding; the player can withdraw it as long as the lender has not agreed. The lender answers every request themselves and agrees or declines. With the agreement the loan is agreed and the copies are earmarked for this period; a copy can only be lent once for overlapping periods. With the request the player confirms that LeaseCards does not cover the loan; time and wording are stored.

Requests (Gesuche): If a player cannot find cards, they can post a request for a period and a radius around a place. Users with matching cards in that radius are notified and can make an offer with their own appointments at a public place. If a user in the radius later adds a wanted card to their binder, the player is notified once. The player can close a request at any time.

Vacation mode: Every user can switch on a vacation mode with a return date in their profile. Until then their binder cannot be booked; running loans, purchases and trades are not affected.

Former features: Rentals with a deposit and a rental fee are no longer offered since 24 Oct 2026. For rentals with a deposit agreed until then, § 21 applies.

§ 05//

Fees

Account, binder, appointments, places, stores, events, requests, lending and trades without cash are free. There are no monthly or setup fees. Fees only apply when money flows through LeaseCards: for a direct purchase (§ 11a) and a trade with cash on top (§ 11b).

Fees at a glance

Transaction fee (whoever pays): 1.5% + €0.25 on the price or the cash on top, for payment processing.
Commission (whoever receives the money): LeaseCards keeps 4.9% of the price or the cash on top from the payout.
Lending and trades without cash: no fees.

The applicable percentages and amounts are shown before a purchase and before accepting a trade offer. The values at the time of payment apply; later changes only apply to new purchases and trades.

§ 06//

Payment processing

Payments for direct purchases and trades with cash on top are processed by Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd.), by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. The paying user pays the amount including the transaction fee before the meeting. LeaseCards holds it until the handover and then credits it to the recipient's Stripe account, minus the commission and any amounts the recipient still owes. If the handover does not happen, the payer gets the full amount back (§ 11a, § 11b).

The balance stays on the Stripe account until the user requests a payout in their wallet. If a credit cannot be made, for example because the payout account is not active, the amount stays with LeaseCards until a payout account is connected again; LeaseCards retries the credit. In a dispute, a chargeback or a justified suspicion of abuse LeaseCards may hold back payouts and refunds until it is resolved. LeaseCards is neither owner nor buyer of the cards.

§ 07//

Handover

The handover takes place at the agreed appointment at its place. Check the condition of the cards together. The user who receives the cards shows their code (QR code) from the app; the other side scans or enters it and confirms the handover. The confirmation records the time of the handover, not the condition of the cards. Both sides can upload photos of the cards in the conversation; they are only visible to both sides and LeaseCards support.

For a loan this starts the loan; the thread shows who has which cards until when. For a direct purchase and a trade, the card passes to the recipient with the confirmation.

§ 08//

Return of borrowed cards

The player returns borrowed cards to the same lender at the agreed return appointment, at most 144 hours after the handover, in the condition they were in at the handover. Another appointment is possible by agreement. The player shows their return code from the app; the lender confirms the return. LeaseCards sends a reminder before the return appointment. Normal play wear is not damage.

§ 09//

Damage, non-return & disputes

Loans: If borrowed cards are damaged or not returned, this is a matter between player and lender; LeaseCards holds no money and does not convert the loan into a purchase. Support can mediate using the confirmations and photos. A user who does not return borrowed cards can be suspended under § 15.

Direct purchase and trade: The recipient checks the cards before confirming the handover. If they find afterwards that a card is not genuine or does not match its description, they can contact support; support reviews the case using the photos and statements and may hold back payouts until it is resolved. The statutory claims of the parties against each other and their right to pursue them in court remain unaffected.

§ 10//

Reviews & trust

After a completed loan, purchase or trade both sides can rate each other once with 1 to 5 stars and a short text. Reviews are only possible for handovers actually made through LeaseCards, appear publicly in the profile and count towards the user's reputation (XP).

§ 11//

Keeping borrowed cards

If a player wants to keep borrowed cards, they can agree on it with the lender. Through LeaseCards a new direct purchase (§ 11a) is possible if the lender offers the card for sale. Other arrangements are made between the parties.

§ 11a//

Buying cards directly (local sale)

Besides lending, users can also sell cards from their binder (“Seller”). The Seller marks a card as “Also for sale” and sets a price per copy. Only users who have set up a payout account with Stripe Connect (§ 02) can sell; details under the German Platform Tax Transparency Act are covered by § 18. There is no shipping; the handover happens only in person at an appointment of the Seller at its place.

Purchase contract: On the card page the buyer picks a pickup appointment of the Seller within the next 7 days and the number of copies, and confirms with “Buy and pay”. The purchase contract is concluded between buyer and Seller once the payment succeeds; LeaseCards is not the seller but arranges the contract and handles the payment. If the copies were no longer available in the meantime, no contract is concluded and the buyer gets the full amount back.

Price and payment: The buyer pays the price plus the transaction fee (§ 05) at once. The amount is charged, not only reserved, and held by LeaseCards until the handover. After the confirmed handover the price minus the commission (§ 05) and minus open amounts of the Seller (see below) is credited to the Seller’s Stripe account.

Handover: The buyer checks the card in person and shows the pickup code (QR code) from the app; the Seller scans or types it and confirms the handover. With the confirmation the card passes to the buyer. Both sides can upload photos of the card (§ 07).

No handover: If the handover is not confirmed by the end of the pickup appointment plus 2 hours, the purchase ends automatically and the buyer gets the full amount including the transaction fee back. If the Seller calls the sale off or does not show up, the Seller bears the fee the payment provider keeps on the refund; it is set off against the Seller’s next payout. If the Seller noted in the app that the buyer did not come, this fee does not apply to the Seller. After two failed handovers the Seller is responsible for, LeaseCards may block selling for the Seller; lending remains possible.

Cancellation by the buyer: Until 24 hours before the pickup appointment starts the buyer can cancel in the app and gets the full amount back. After that a cancellation is only possible by agreement with the Seller; the Seller can then call the sale off.

Withdrawal and warrantyBuying from private persons: There is no statutory right of withdrawal. The buyer checks the card at the handover in person; with the confirmation of the handover the purchase is complete. Warranty follows what buyer and Seller agreed and the law.
Buying from business sellers (stores): The store is the contracting party and shows its legal notice at the purchase. If the buyer is a consumer, the statutory consumer rights against the store apply, in particular the right of withdrawal for contracts concluded through the platform and the statutory warranty; the store provides the withdrawal information.

The Seller warrants that they own the card, that it is genuine and in the stated condition. Counterfeits and cards whose sale is prohibited must not be offered (§ 14).

§ 11b//

Trading cards

Users can trade cards from their binders, card against card, with or without cash on top. Cards can be traded if their owner has released them for trading and given them a card value. There is no shipping; the handover takes place in person at an appointment of the requested user at their place.

Process: A user asks for cards from another user's binder. The requested user picks from the requester's binder which cards they want for them and can suggest cash on top in either direction. The card values of both sides are shown for comparison; they are only a suggestion. Both sides can make counter offers. The trade contract is concluded between the users when one side accepts the other side's offer in the app; from then on the cards of both sides are earmarked until the handover.

Cash on top: If cash on top is agreed, the paying user pays it right after the acceptance through LeaseCards, plus the transaction fee (§ 05). After the confirmed handover it is paid out to the other user minus the commission. Without cash (€0.00) no money flows through LeaseCards; anything else the users agree on is their own business.

Handover and cancellation: The handover is confirmed as in § 07; the cards change owner with it. If the handover is not confirmed by the end of the appointment plus 2 hours, or if one side calls the trade off before the handover, the trade ends; paid cash on top is refunded in full. For authenticity and condition, § 09 and the assurances in § 11a apply accordingly.

§ 12//

Cancellation before handover

Requests and offers that have not been accepted can be withdrawn or declined at any time free of charge. Both sides can call off an agreed loan free of charge in the conversation until the handover. § 11a applies to purchases, § 11b to trades. Frequent cancellations are recorded as a metric, may be shown to other users and may lead to restrictions of the account.

If an event is cancelled, loans, purchases and trades for it that have not been handed over end; paid amounts are refunded.

§ 13//

Right of withdrawal

The usage contract with LeaseCards and loans between users are free of charge. For direct purchases see § 11a. If you as a consumer concluded a contract against payment with LeaseCards, you have a statutory right of withdrawal of 14 days; the notice with a model withdrawal form is at Right of withdrawal. For questions contact legal@leasecards.com.

§ 14//

Cards & content

Cards supplied for a deal must be authentic and playable and permitted for their intended use. Counterfeit cards are a ground for extraordinary termination.

Content you post (profile, messages, reviews, store descriptions, event suggestions) must not be unlawful, abusive or misleading. For reviews, § 10 applies. Reviews must be honest and factual; bought or arranged reviews are not allowed. LeaseCards may remove content that is unlawful or violates these terms.

§ 15//

Suspension & termination

You can request the deletion of your account at any time in your profile (or through support), provided there are no open rentals. LeaseCards may terminate the usage contract with 14 days’ notice.

For good cause, in particular counterfeit cards, fraud, harassment or intimidation at handover and return, false statements when claiming a store profile or deliberately false event details, LeaseCards may suspend an account or terminate without notice. This also applies if rentals that came about on LeaseCards are carried out off the platform to avoid fees.

§ 16//

Liability

LeaseCards is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the Product Liability Act. For slightly negligent breach of essential contractual obligations (cardinal duties), liability is limited to the foreseeable, typical damage. Otherwise liability for slight negligence is excluded.

LeaseCards is not a party to the loan, purchase and trade contracts between users and does not organise the events. LeaseCards is not liable for the condition, authenticity or availability of the cards, for users’ conduct or for events being cancelled or changed. LeaseCards does not insure the value of the cards; loans are not protected by LeaseCards.

§ 17//

Availability & changes

We aim for high availability of the platform but do not owe uninterrupted access; maintenance is possible.

We may change these terms with effect for the future where this is reasonable for you, for example because of new features or changes in law. We announce changes in advance with reasonable notice. If you disagree, you can terminate the usage contract before the change takes effect.

§ 18//

Tax

Lenders and sellers are responsible for their own taxes. Where the German Platform Tax Transparency Act (PStTG, implementing DAC7) requires it, LeaseCards reports data about Lenders and sellers and their revenue handled through LeaseCards to the Federal Central Tax Office.

Sellers (§ 11a) can give their details at any time: private persons first and last name, address, date of birth and tax identification number; business sellers name, address, VAT ID or tax number and legal notice. Once a seller reaches the reporting threshold (30 sales or €2,000 in a calendar year), the seller must give these details when LeaseCards asks; until then LeaseCards may hold back payouts or block selling. The seller keeps the details up to date. Details Stripe already collected for the verification may be used by LeaseCards to fill them in.

§ 19//

Data protection & dispute resolution

How we process personal data is set out in the Privacy Policy.

We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (§ 36 VSBG).

§ 20//

Final provisions

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. For consumers, mandatory consumer protection provisions of the country of their habitual residence remain unaffected.

If the user is a merchant, a legal entity under public law or a special fund under public law, the place of jurisdiction is Offenbach am Main. Mandatory places of jurisdiction remain unaffected.

If a provision is invalid, the remaining provisions stay valid. In case of differences between language versions, the German version prevails.

§ 21//

Transition: rentals with a deposit

Since 24 Oct 2026 LeaseCards no longer offers rentals with a deposit and a rental fee. Rentals with a deposit offered or agreed until 23 Oct 2026 are completed under the terms that applied until then, in particular on deposit, rental fee, return, damage claims, non-return and purchase during the rental. That version is available here: Terms, version until 23 Oct 2026.
