LeaseCards Terms of Service
These Terms govern the use of LeaseCards at leasecards.com (“LeaseCards” or “LC”). LeaseCards is a reverse marketplace for time-based rentals of trading cards. It is an intermediary only. The rental is a contract between the player (“Borrower”) and the lender (“Lender”).
Scope & contracting party
These terms apply to the use of leasecards.com (“LeaseCards”). The provider is Musa Cof, Austraße 29, 63065 Offenbach, Germany (see Legal Notice).
LeaseCards is an intermediary platform for borrowing and buying trading cards with a handover in person, at tournaments, events and public places. The rental contract for the cards is concluded solely between the user who borrows the cards (“Borrower”) and the user who lends them (“Lender”); for a direct purchase (§ 11a) the purchase contract is concluded between buyer and seller. Between you and LeaseCards there is a usage contract for providing the platform and, for rentals with a deposit, the payment handling. Lenders are players, collectors and stores. Whether a vendor acts as a business (section 14 BGB) or as a consumer (section 13 BGB) depends on what they actually do; regular lending for profit can be commercial. Lenders are responsible for their own tax and trade-law duties.
LeaseCards does not organise the events shown on the platform. The respective organiser is responsible for holding the event, its dates and its conditions of participation.
Account & verification
You need an account to put cards in your binder, add appointments, add places, request cards or tap “I'm going” on an event. You must be at least 18, give truthful information and keep your login details secret. One account per person.
Places, stores, appointments & events
Places: a place is a publicly accessible location with a name and an address (shop, café, station, hall or another public place). Every user can add a place and confirms that it is a public place and not a private address. LeaseCards suggests existing places with the same address or very close by to avoid duplicates. Places can be reported; LeaseCards can edit, merge and remove places. LeaseCards lists places with publicly available business data also without the owner's involvement.
Stores: a shop first appears as a meeting point (name and address, no logo and not called a store or partner). The owner can claim the profile; after a check by the LeaseCards team the shop becomes a Store with its own page, logo and badge, and the owner keeps opening hours, description, tournaments and weekly locals up to date. There is only one active owner per place; the team decides conflicts. The owner can request the removal of an automatically created profile. There are no paid plans or subscriptions.
Appointments and events: an appointment is a place with a time window, once or weekly. Lenders add their own presence (“I'm there from … to …”), several Lenders can use the same place. An event is an appointment with its own event page. Users can suggest events; suggestions appear after approval by the team, Store owners publish their events directly. LeaseCards can reject, correct, mark as cancelled and feature events; there is no claim to publication or featuring. LeaseCards is not the organiser of events.
Binder, request & offer
Binder: a Lender adds the single cards they want to lend to their binder, with the number of copies and a card value they set themselves. The card value must not exceed the current market value of the card. The binder can be paused at any time.
Request: the Borrower picks a pickup and a return appointment from the Lender's appointments. Pickup and return always happen with the same Lender; a return at another place is not possible. The return appointment must start at most 144 hours after the pickup appointment starts. Pickup and return in the same appointment (“same day”) are possible and follow the same rules. The request is not binding and reserves no cards; several Borrowers can request the same cards for the same period. As long as the Borrower has not accepted an offer, they can withdraw the request.
Offer and acceptance: the Lender answers every request themselves; they decline or make an offer, on trust (“friends & family”) or with a deposit. Nothing is answered automatically. Offering a deposit requires a payout account (§ 02) and a card value for every card. With the offer the offered copies are set aside for that period; a copy can only be offered and lent once for overlapping periods. The rental contract between Lender and Borrower is concluded only when the Borrower accepts the offer in the app; they can also decline it. Once the copies are lent, other open requests for them end automatically with a notice. Details can be agreed in the request's conversation under “Messages”.
Wanted requests: if a Borrower cannot find cards, they can post a wanted request for a period and a radius around a place. Lenders with matching cards in this radius are notified and can make an offer with their own appointments at a public place; the previous paragraph applies to offer and acceptance. Once the accepted offers cover all cards of the request, it is closed and the other open offers end. The Borrower can close a wanted request at any time; open offers on it then end as well, rentals already accepted continue.
Rental with a deposit: by accepting an offer with a deposit the Borrower accepts the non-return rule (§ 10). No payment card has to be saved in advance. At the handover the card value and the non-return fee are reserved with Apple Pay, Google Pay or a payment card (§ 06). Before accepting and before the reservation LeaseCards shows what the rental costs in total after 1, 3 and 6 days. The rental fee follows the actual rental period (§ 05).
Trust rental (“friends & family”): no deposit, no rental fee, no payment through LeaseCards and no fee. By accepting the offer the Borrower expressly confirms that LeaseCards does not cover this rental; time and wording are stored. The return deadline and reminders are for information only.
Vacation mode: every user can switch on a vacation mode with a return date in their profile. Until then their binder cannot be booked; running rentals are not affected.
Earlier features: deck listings and the earlier request feature with store offers are no longer offered. Existing rentals from them and rentals confirmed before 10 October 2026 are completed under the terms that applied until then.
Fees
Account, binder, appointments, places, stores, events, requests and browsing are free. There are no monthly or setup fees. Fees only apply to rentals with a deposit and to direct purchases.
Rental fee: charged per started 24-hour period from the handover: 8% of the card value for the first period, 2% for every further one, at most 20% of the card value in total, but at least €2.00 per rental and never more than the card value. It goes to the Lender.
Transaction fee (Borrower): 1.5% + €0.25 of the amount charged (rental fee, or the card value on an agreed purchase), for payment processing.
Commission (Lender): LeaseCards keeps 4.9% of the rental fee or the purchase price from the payout.
Non-return fee: €25.00, reserved with the card value at the handover. It is only kept if the rental becomes a purchase because the cards were not returned (§ 10); the Lender receives €15.00 of it and LeaseCards €10.00 for handling. In all other cases it is released.
Direct purchase (§ 11a): the buyer pays the transaction fee of 1.5% + €0.25 on the price; the seller pays 4.9% commission of the price.
Trust rentals: no fees.
Deposit: the reservation of the card value is not a fee. On a proper return it is released except for the rental fee and the transaction fee.
The rates and amounts that apply are shown before an offer is accepted and before the handover. A rental uses the values at the time the Borrower accepts the offer; later changes only apply to new rentals. Referral programme: if a Borrower registered with a referral code, the referrer may receive 3% of the rental fee; LeaseCards pays this from its compensation.
Payment processing
Payments are processed by Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd.). For a rental with a deposit nothing is saved, reserved or charged before the handover.
At the handover, after the Lender has confirmed it (§ 07), the Borrower reserves the card value plus the non-return fee with Apple Pay, Google Pay or a payment card (with confirmation by the bank, 3-D Secure, if required). If the reservation fails, there is no handover.
After a confirmed return only the rental fee and the transaction fee are charged; the rest of the reservation is released. On an agreed purchase (§ 11) the card value and the transaction fee are charged and the rest, including the non-return fee, is released. On non-return (§ 10) the card value plus the non-return fee is charged. On a damage report (§ 09) the rental fee, the transaction fee and the damage amount are charged in one step and the rest is released. In a dispute (§ 09) the reservation is charged first; the part due afterwards is refunded to the original payment method. Card reservations are limited in time by the card schemes (usually 7 days); the deadlines in § 10 are set so that settlement happens before.
The rental fee or purchase price is credited to the Lender's Stripe account minus the commission after completion. It stays there until the Lender requests a payout in their wallet; payouts are possible from €30. If a credit cannot be made, for example because the payout account is no longer active, the amount stays with LeaseCards until the Lender connects a payout account again. In a dispute, a chargeback or a justified suspicion of abuse LeaseCards may hold back payouts and refunds until clarified. LeaseCards is neither owner nor renter of the cards.
Handover
The handover takes place at the chosen pickup appointment at its place. Check the condition of the cards together. The Borrower shows their handover code (QR code) from the app; the Lender scans or types it and confirms the handover. For a trust rental the handover is then confirmed; for a rental with a deposit only once the reservation (§ 06) that follows succeeded. The Lender only hands the cards over once the app shows the handover as confirmed. Both sides can upload photos of the cards at handover and return in the conversation; they are only visible to both sides and LeaseCards support.
The rental then starts. The confirmation documents the time of the handover, not the condition of the cards. From then on the rental fee (§ 05) and the return deadline (§ 10) run. For a rental with a deposit LeaseCards reminds the Borrower the day before the pickup. If the cards were not handed over by the end of the chosen return appointment, the rental ends without cost.
Return
The Borrower returns the cards to the same Lender at most 144 hours after the handover, usually at the booked return appointment; another appointment of the same Lender within the deadline is possible by agreement. The Borrower shows their return code from the app; the Lender checks the cards and confirms the return in the app. For a rental with a deposit the rental fee and the transaction fee are then charged and the rental fee minus the commission is paid to the Lender. Returns up to 156 hours after the handover still count as a normal return.
If the Lender does not confirm the return right away, the Borrower can report “I have returned the cards” in the app for a rental with a deposit. The time of the report is stored; the rental fee is charged at most until then. The Lender is notified and confirms the return or reports damage or a problem (§ 09).
Normal play wear does not justify keeping any amount.
Damage & disputes
If cards are missing, the Lender can open a dispute; for damage beyond normal play wear in a rental with a deposit the damage report below applies first. A dispute also arises if the Borrower reported the return (§ 08) and the Lender neither confirms it nor reports a problem by the end of the period in § 10. In a dispute nothing is paid out and no purchase is charged. If the reservation would run out before the matter is resolved, it is charged in full and the amount is held by LeaseCards until the decision. LeaseCards support reviews the case, may ask for evidence (for example photos or the chat history) and decides after a reasonable review whether the return took place and whether and how much of the deposit is kept or refunded. If support accepts the return, the Borrower pays the rental fee until the reported return and the transaction fee, plus any damage found; the rest is refunded. If not, the rental is settled as a non-return (§ 10). Photos of handover and return uploaded in the conversation (§ 07) are taken into account; where there are no such photos, support decides on the basis of the other evidence.
Damage report at the return (rental with a deposit): if the Lender finds damage at the return, they report it in the app instead of confirming the return. They state the amount, describe the damage and upload at least one photo. The amount may be at most the reservation minus the rental fee and the transaction fee. The return then counts as done: in one step the rental fee until the report (or until the reported return, if earlier), the transaction fee and the damage amount are charged; the rest of the reservation is released. If the reservation has already been charged, the difference is refunded. The rental fee is paid out to the Lender minus the commission as for a normal return; the damage amount stays with LeaseCards until the matter is settled.
The Borrower is informed by notification and email and has 48 hours to agree to the report or give the case to support; LeaseCards reminds them 12 hours before the deadline. If they agree or do not answer in time, the damage counts as accepted: the damage amount is paid to the Lender without commission and the rental is complete. If the Borrower gives the case to support, support decides after a reasonable review of the photos and statements which amount between €0 and the reported amount is due to the Lender; the rest is refunded to the Borrower. Reporting an obviously unfounded or inflated damage can lead to suspension under § 15; LeaseCards monitors the number of damage reports per Lender for this.
For trust rentals LeaseCards holds no money; support can only document and mediate the case. The parties’ right to pursue their claims in court is not affected.
Non-return
For a rental with a deposit: if the Borrower does not return the cards within 144 hours after the handover and not within another 12 hours, the rental becomes a purchase 156 hours after the handover. The card value and the non-return fee (§ 05) are charged; no rental fee applies then. The Lender receives the card value minus the commission plus €15.00 of the fee, LeaseCards keeps €10.00 for handling. The Borrower keeps the cards. If the Borrower reported the return before this deadline (§ 08), the rental is not converted into a purchase; a dispute arises instead (§ 09).
This rule only applies if the Borrower expressly accepted it when accepting the offer, that is before the handover; the card value and the fee are shown, and the wording and time of the acceptance are stored. We remind the Borrower 24 hours and 4 hours before the deadline and inform both sides about the conversion. Trust rentals are never converted.
If the card value was set higher than the market value of the cards, the Borrower can contact support, which limits the purchase price to the market value.
Purchase during the rental
For every running rental with a deposit, also with pickup and return in the same appointment, the Borrower can buy the cards instead of returning them. One side proposes the purchase in the app (the Lender offers the cards, or the Borrower asks to keep them), and the other side agrees in the app. Without the agreement of both sides there is no purchase; a proposal can be withdrawn or declined until it is accepted. The exact amount is shown before agreeing.
The purchase price is the card value; the transaction fee (§ 05) is added. No rental fee and no non-return fee apply; the rest of the reservation is released. The purchase price minus the commission is paid to the Lender, the Borrower keeps the cards and the rental is complete. Trust rentals have no purchase through LeaseCards.
Buying cards directly (local sale)
Besides lending, users can also sell cards from their binder (“Seller”). The Seller marks a card as “Also for sale” and sets a price per copy. Only users who have set up a payout account with Stripe Connect (§ 02) can sell; details under the German Platform Tax Transparency Act are covered by § 18. There is no shipping; the handover happens only in person at an appointment of the Seller at its place.
Purchase contract: On the card page the buyer picks a pickup appointment of the Seller within the next 7 days and the number of copies, and confirms with “Buy and pay”. The purchase contract is concluded between buyer and Seller once the payment succeeds; LeaseCards is not the seller but arranges the contract and handles the payment. If the copies were no longer available in the meantime, no contract is concluded and the buyer gets the full amount back.
Price and payment: The buyer pays the price plus the transaction fee (§ 05) at once. The amount is charged, not only reserved, and held by LeaseCards until the handover. After the confirmed handover the price minus the commission (§ 05) and minus open amounts of the Seller (see below) is credited to the Seller’s Stripe account.
Handover: The buyer checks the card in person and shows the pickup code (QR code) from the app; the Seller scans or types it and confirms the handover. With the confirmation the card passes to the buyer. Both sides can upload photos of the card (§ 07).
No handover: If the handover is not confirmed by the end of the pickup appointment plus 2 hours, the purchase ends automatically and the buyer gets the full amount including the transaction fee back. If the Seller calls the sale off or does not show up, the Seller bears the fee the payment provider keeps on the refund; it is set off against the Seller’s next payout. If the Seller noted in the app that the buyer did not come, this fee does not apply to the Seller. After two failed handovers the Seller is responsible for, LeaseCards may block selling for the Seller; lending remains possible.
Cancellation by the buyer: Until 24 hours before the pickup appointment starts the buyer can cancel in the app and gets the full amount back. After that a cancellation is only possible by agreement with the Seller; the Seller can then call the sale off.
Buying from business sellers (stores): The store is the contracting party and shows its legal notice at the purchase. If the buyer is a consumer, the statutory consumer rights against the store apply, in particular the right of withdrawal for contracts concluded through the platform and the statutory warranty; the store provides the withdrawal information.
The Seller warrants that they own the card, that it is genuine and in the stated condition. Counterfeits and cards whose sale is prohibited must not be offered (§ 14).
Cancellation before handover
Requests and offers that have not been accepted can be withdrawn or declined free of charge at any time. Until the handover both sides can cancel an accepted rental free of charge in the conversation; nothing is reserved or charged before the handover. A Lender's cancellations are recorded as a metric and may be shown to Borrowers; frequent cancellations can lead to restrictions of the account.
If an event is cancelled, rentals for it that were not handed over yet are ended. After the handover cancellation is no longer possible; return, dispute, purchase and non-return apply.
Right of withdrawal
As a consumer you generally have a statutory right of withdrawal of 14 days for rentals through LeaseCards. The full notice with a model withdrawal form is on the right of withdrawal page. Lenders acting as businesses have no right of withdrawal. The right of withdrawal exists alongside the cancellation under § 12 and is not limited by it. If you have questions, contact legal@leasecards.com.
Cards & content
Cards supplied for a deal must be authentic and playable and permitted for their intended use. Counterfeit cards are a ground for extraordinary termination.
Content you post (profile, messages, reviews, store descriptions, event suggestions) must not be unlawful, abusive or misleading. After a completed rental both sides can rate each other once with 1 to 5 stars and a short text; reviews are only possible for rentals actually handled through LeaseCards and appear publicly on the profile. Reviews must be honest and factual; bought or arranged reviews are not allowed. LeaseCards may remove content that is unlawful or violates these terms.
Suspension & termination
You can request the deletion of your account at any time in your profile (or through support), provided there are no open rentals. LeaseCards may terminate the usage contract with 14 days’ notice.
For good cause, in particular counterfeit cards, fraud, harassment or intimidation at handover and return, false statements when claiming a store profile or deliberately false event details, LeaseCards may suspend an account or terminate without notice. This also applies if rentals that came about on LeaseCards are carried out off the platform to avoid fees.
Liability
LeaseCards is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the Product Liability Act. For slightly negligent breach of essential contractual obligations (cardinal duties), liability is limited to the foreseeable, typical damage. Otherwise liability for slight negligence is excluded.
LeaseCards is not a party to the rental contract and does not organise the events. LeaseCards is not liable for the condition, authenticity or availability of the cards, for users’ conduct or for events being cancelled or changed. LeaseCards does not insure the value of the cards beyond the deposit; trust rentals are not protected by LeaseCards.
Availability & changes
We aim for high availability of the platform but do not owe uninterrupted access; maintenance is possible.
We may change these terms with effect for the future where this is reasonable for you, for example because of new features or changes in law. We announce changes in advance with reasonable notice. If you disagree, you can terminate the usage contract before the change takes effect.
Tax
Lenders and sellers are responsible for their own taxes. Where the German Platform Tax Transparency Act (PStTG, implementing DAC7) requires it, LeaseCards reports data about Lenders and sellers and their revenue handled through LeaseCards to the Federal Central Tax Office.
Sellers (§ 11a) can give their details at any time: private persons first and last name, address, date of birth and tax identification number; business sellers name, address, VAT ID or tax number and legal notice. Once a seller reaches the reporting threshold (30 sales or €2,000 in a calendar year), the seller must give these details when LeaseCards asks; until then LeaseCards may hold back payouts or block selling. The seller keeps the details up to date. Details Stripe already collected for the verification may be used by LeaseCards to fill them in.
Data protection & dispute resolution
How we process personal data is set out in the Privacy Policy.
We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (§ 36 VSBG).
Final provisions
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. For consumers, mandatory consumer protection provisions of the country of their habitual residence remain unaffected.
If the user is a merchant, a legal entity under public law or a special fund under public law, the place of jurisdiction is Offenbach am Main. Mandatory places of jurisdiction remain unaffected.
If a provision is invalid, the remaining provisions stay valid. In case of differences between language versions, the German version prevails.
